Geometrus 1 (Morning Walk) (43”
x 28” - 110 cm x 71cm) April,
2005

|
I have been working with more
stylized landscape elements lately, because I wanted to see if the landscape
was still a landscape, with its moods and light, even with using one basic
shape; in this case, the triangle. The triptych 'Geometrus' was the
result. This is first quilt in the series (also called Morning Walk), and combines the monochromatic simplicity of the
geometric trees with the very organic, complex texture
and colours of the riverbank. It is fascinating to me how the mind's eye still
sees the trees and the reflection, not just lines and triangles.
